What People Say about BDLC

“I know that at BDLC my kids are happy, safe and well-cared for. That gives me the peace of mind I need as a working mom.” —Connie Kuhlman

“I like making pudding and making other foods.”  “I like the new playground.”  “I like the calendar being my job.”  —Kindergarten students in the Cub Room

“The staff and parents of BDLC have helped develop community resources over the years, such as their infant and toddler program.  The Center is a quality not-for-profit organization deserving of community support and patronage.” —Frank McCloskey, Bloomington Mayor 1971-1982, U.S. Congressman 1982-1994

“When I think about the things that I want BDLC to provide for my child in my absence: a safe place, a stimulating environment, good nutritious food, a playground, and a family, it astounds me what we ask from BDLC, and that the BDLC staff responds with such love, skill and dedication.” —Moira Wedekind

“We like BDLC because it is a fun and safe learning environment, but most of all, we like BDLC because Sam does. When your child wakes up asking to go see his friends, it’s definitely a good thing.” —Mandy and Jack Clarke

“Olivia enjoys BDLC so much that it’s hard to get her to leave some days! We are glad that she feels so at home there. The teachers and staff have helped nurture her growth and development in so many ways.” —Laura Baich and Chris Robb

What parents say about BDLC’s Kindergarten program

“Dana has taught our kindergartener to love the process of learning. What a wonderful start of her education!”

“Kindergarten was a great experience. Dana is such an excellent teacher and she finds wonderful things to teach our children, including that diversity of all sorts enriches our lives!”

“We are delighted with BDLC’s kindergarten program. Dana has a thoughtful approach to curriculum and an appreciation of the children’s varied ways of learning. We especially like the way Dana designs intellectually stimulating topics, organizing activities of all different kinds (reading, art, math, science, social studies etc.) around themes. The themes are well chosen: they engage the children and are flexible enough to respond to their interests. Our son really enjoys these and is learning a lot!”

“We love the program. It is fun and innovative. It covers quite a lot of topics and also focuses on reading and other basics. We recommend this kindergarten program with its spirited teacher.”

Written by the room-parent for the BDLC Newsletter in March 2008:

“The Cubs have been expanding their horizons at a prodigious rate. They have been traveling through history, from castle times” to pioneer days (Little House in the Big Woods on tape at quiet time) and from George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln to Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement. They have also been surveying their environment; few things in the Cub Room have not been measured? Word problems are a fun and challenging way to think mathematically. Individual reading lessons and homework continue apace. Everybody is making progress and it is so exciting!”
